Your pledge creates better relationships. More than 5,500 people reported an improvement in the quality of their relationships after receiving counseling at a United Way agency.

Who we help

Have your kids taken swimming lessons at the YMCA or been involved with the Girl or Boy Scouts? Has your family been touched by cancer, diabetes or MS? Have you had to think about long-term care for your parents?

Then you've been helped by the United Way.

Each year more than one million people1 are helped by the nearly 200 health and human service agencies we fund. The people we help are your neighbors, coworkers and friends. They're the lawyers, store clerks, doctors, stay-at-home moms, teachers, receptionists, retirees, sales managers and students you see every day. Read about some of the people being helped each day and see how we're helping in your community.

While access to some services is based on income, many are available to anyone who needs them, regardless of income, race or creed. Because our United Way believes in creating a healthy community for everyone, our services address a wide array of issues and programs.

1These are not unduplicated numbers. Many clients receive multiple services, both within an agency and between agencies. The total represents the number of times an individual was "touched" by one or more agencies.

Million dollar-plus companies 2008

The United Way funds nearly 200 health and human service agencies located throughout a 16-county area in Missouri and Illinois. More than one million people in our bi-state community receive services that strengthen families, help the elderly, keep children healthy and safe, and build stronger neighborhoods.
